Evolving our Movement

Over the holidays, your neighbours took the streets to talk with others about a free Palestine. This has been feeling like one issue that all folks in Van-Gran will agree on: **Canada will not stand to be complicit with Israeli genocide and apartheid any longer. **

Our movement to share the truth about Palestinian liberation has reflected the relentless energy of Israeli strikes on innocent Palestinian civilians. We are doing everything we can to unite our neighbourhood behind Palestinian solidarity.

Now, we are gearing up for the next phase of our work: inside campaigning with businesses and community leaders throughout Vancouver-Granville. We will be meeting next week to brainstorm ideas and existing connections in our networks that we can leverage to have leaders sign open letters, commit to becoming apartheid-free businesses, and share their experiences engaging with our MP. This work will continue in conjunction with our rallies, events, petitions, and flyers.

If you would like to be involved, please reply back to this email or join our WhatsApp group here:

This Sunday at 1:00 p.m., we also invite you to join us at an upcoming, incredibly casual meet-and-greet in our neighbourhood. This is a chance for us to put some faces to names and talk about ways we’d like to contribute as we get ready to execute on a two-month roadmap ahead. We are committed to ensuring that the next representative of Vancouver-Granville stands in solidarity with Palestine and we’d love to have you join us!

Odd Interpretations of Democracyin Vancouver-Granville

With just two canvassing sessions on the streets, we collected over 300 unique signatures on five paper petitions. In these petitions, we’ve asked our MP to: (1) acknowledge Israeli apartheid; (2) acknowledge that Israeli officials have made genocidal statements; (3) condemn starvation as a weapon of war; and (4) demand a full inquiry into Canadian complicity with Israeli genocide and apartheid.

Since leaving these with our MP, he has immediately launched on to social media comments to sow division and hate. He has characterized us as angry protestors and accused us of lying about our experience of being welcomed with a locked door. There is no question about it: our MP knows we are watching and knows that he is losing any chance at re-election each day he remains silent.

Our work is effective!

We will not rest until Canadian complicity with Israeli genocide and apartheid has been ended. We are watching with fright as the international legal order has been destroyed by Israel’s impunity in attacking civilian infrastructure like hospitals, schools, and cultural institutions.

We will not stand idly by as the Middle East is bombed to oblivion for the benefit of arms dealers and those who peddle in hate.

With gratitude and in solidarity,

Your Neighbours
